GUI ScreenIO for Windows |
WinHelp used to be the standard way of creating documentation for Windows applications, but Microsoft is moving away from WinHelp and toward HTML Help as the favored Help application.
As a result, we recommend that you use HTML Help instead of the (older) WinHelp application for your documentation.
Microsoft offers tools that will convert WinHelp applications to HTML Help.
When the user presses the F1 key, GUI ScreenIO will launch the Microsoft WinHelp application and open your WinHelp (.hlp) file.
GUI ScreenIO's help launcher will launch the help file for the language that is currently selected.
The name of the WinHelp file must consist of the name of your main panel, plus the suffix of the two-digit language ID that matches your alternate language IDs in your application.
If the current language is English, and your main panel is named MYMAIN, GUI ScreenIO launches the Microsoft WinHelp application and specifies the filename MYMAIN01.HLP. If an alternate language were in use, it would specify the filename MYMAINnn.HLP, where nn is the ID of the alternate language.
Third parties offer editors that can create standard Microsoft WinHelp (.hlp) files.
